Patrick Mahomes is currently the best QB in the league and is soon going to cement himself as an all-time great. The QB has had a massive impact on the Kansas City Chiefs since arriving at the Arrowhead.

The Chiefs have won 2 Super Bowls with him as their QB and will comfortably challenge for the 3rd one next season. Mahomes has been a complete revelation and is often unplayable for the opposition.

The defenders find it pretty hard to tie him down. The 27-year-old QB is a generational talent and is the one to look out for after the great Tom Brady. However, there is one thing, where Mahomes is not the first.

Currently, Mahomes is not even in the top 5 highest-paid players list in the NFL. With new contract extensions for Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, the QB market has suddenly risen to new heights. Regardless, Mahomes is not worried about it and has his focus somewhere else.

“I’ve always said I worry about legacy and winning rings more than making money at this moment,” Patrick Mahomes stated. “We see what’s going on around the league, but at the same time, I’ll never do anything that’s going to hurt us from keeping the great players around me. So it’s kind of teetering around that line.”

The NFL is a highly competitive league where only a select few can go down in history. To be the best Patrick Mahomes will need to make some sacrifices. Most importantly, he would need to take a pay cut so that his teammates can get paid.

Mahomes believes that he has earned all the money he needs for his lifetime and has instead turned his attention towards creating an unbeatable legacy.

“It’s not about being the highest-paid guy; it’s not about making a ton of money,” Patrick Mahomes said. “I’ve made enough money where I’ll be set for the rest of my life. But at the same time, you got to find that line where you’re making a good amount of money but you’re still keeping a lot of great players around you so you can win these Super Bowls and you’re able to compete in these games.”

Patrick Mahomes has already signed a 10-year $450 million deal in 2020. However, new sources suggest that he is going to restructure his deal after winning both the NFL Super Bowl MVP and the regular season MVP.
