“It’s a waste of time,” Patriots HC Bill Belichick makes a HUGELY cryptic comment on QB debate between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe

The NFL franchises all seem to have a similar problem at this stage, whether it be the Dallas Cowboys or the New England Patriots. In the case of Bill Belichick’s Patriots, the debate has already started as to who should be given the No.1 quarterback spot in the franchise.
The designated No.1 quarterback ahead of the season, Mac Jones, suffered an ankle injury during the Week 3 clash against the Baltimore Ravens. He hasn’t taken the field since, and the opportunity has fallen into the hands of fourth round 2022 draft pick, Bailey Zappe.

Bill Belichick did not reveal his quarterback cards ahead of the Patriots’ NFL clash against the Browns

The 23-year-old has taken the golden opportunity with both hands open, leading the Patriots to gigantic victory against the Detroit Lions in what was only his first start in the NFL.
On the other hand, Mac Jones did not have the best of starts to the season in the three matches he played. This gives rise to a big question for Bill Belichick ahead of their NFL clash against the Cleveland Browns.
However, Bill Belichick did not want to be drawn into making any comment on the issue when he was asked about it during his latest appearance on the Greg Hill Show. The veteran head coach refused to speak about something which is still a hypothetical situation given Mac Jones’ fitness isn’t known at the moment.

Belichick said, “Yeah, I’m not gonna get into a lot of hypotheticals on all the different things that might or might not happen, and all that. It’s, to me, a waste of time. I’m not gonna sit here and dream up scenarios and all that. We’ll take things as they come, and go from there.”
However, Belichick’s refusal to buckle down on either one amongst Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones is something new. Last season, he had clearly stated out loud that Cam Newton would be the starter ahead of Jones, but it seems he won’t be following that path this time around.
