Lamar Jackson’s contract situation is turning ugly every passing day. The Ravens QB has failed to negotiate a new deal with his team and is currently in the middle of negotiations that aren’t going his way.
The 26-year old QB has been nothing short of impressive since joining the NFL and has broken several rushing records making him one of the best rushing QBs in the league.
Similarly, Jackson had huge desires when his rookie contract was coming to an end and wanted a massive fully guaranteed money deal like Deshaun Watson. However, the only hurdle in his side was him not having an agent. The Ravens QB is represented by his mother and not an NFLPA certified agent.
Jackson couldn’t negotiate with the Ravens properly and that resulted in him getting franchise-tagged by the team that drafted him. The QB also does not have interests from other teams making his situation pretty grim currently.
Robert Griffin III believes that Jackson is up against the raging machine called the NFL. The former QB recently featured on ESPN to speak about Jackson’s current situation and he didn’t have a bright answer.
Griffin believes that there have been instances in the NFL where players have negotiated contracts without an agent representative. However, what went wrong for the Ravens QB is that he is raging a war against a systematic league that works like a well-oiled machine.
“He’s raging a war against the machine and he’s not winning the battle right now,” Robert Griffin III stated on ESPN. “Lamar is worthy and deserving of a fully guaranteed deal.”
Lamar Jackson is fighting a losing battle despite deserving the fully guaranteed contract
The world of NFL is interconnected according to the retired QB Robert Griffin III. The former QB believes that the analysts, teams, agents and insiders are all connected with each other and each gets the piece of a pie when something big goes down.
Therefore, Lamar Jackson is at a disadvantage here as he is up against the whole system and it is very tough to win against the system. The Ravens QB deserves the fully guaranteed money contract like Deshaun Watson with the Browns as he has been a way better QB than him statistically.
Most importantly, his track record off the field has been impeccable and the Ravens QB wasn’t involved in an unwanted drama or controversy. Lamar Jackson has the potential to be one of the best QBs in the league. However, the potential will go to waste if the 26-year old doesn’t sort out his current situation.
