The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is having an MVP-caliber season. He has thrown for 3,157 yards and 22 TDs while completing 68% of his passes. He has also 686 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, all while just throwing three interceptions.
While there are still many debates around this season’s MVP, there’s no doubt that Jalen Hurts has progressed so much to become a franchise QB in the National Football League. His monstrous rise in the league has warranted both positive and negative public opinions about him.
In that trend, ESPN analyst Robert Griffin lll has shown some love towards the third year quarterback. Griffin tweeted that “Jalen Hurts is ON A MISSION.” Griffin also revealed that Hurts told him that his mindset is he hasn’t done anything yet and it will stay that way. He also explained that Hurts hasn’t been celebrating the team’s victory and touchdowns lately because he has bigger things in his mind.
Griffin then expressed his admiration towards Jalen’s mindset before proclaiming that Hurts will be a problem for every defense he faces. “Jalen gonna put a HURTING on every defense in his way.”
Jalen Hurts will look to strengthen his case for this season’s NFL MVP honor when he and his team face another young and exciting QB Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears on this weekend.
Jalen Hurts’ monstrous rise
Jalen Hurts has put up MVP-type numbers this season, but he had to face a lot of adversity throughout his football career to become who he is today. The 3rd year quarterback from Alabama had to prove a lot of doubters throughout his career. He has openly stated that he doesn’t worry about other people’s opinions, but he does carry those ‘scars’ everywhere he goes.
Hurts has already surpassed his previous season’s numbers with still five more weeks left in this season and has proved his ability to be a franchise quarterback. While acquiring star wideout AJ Brown from the Titans on the draft day played a factor in Hurts’ growth, fans gotta give a lot of credit to Hurts himself for his monstrous rise. If there was an award for the most improved player, Hurts would definitely win it.
While Jalen Hurts winning the MVP depends on many factors in the upcoming weeks, he will look to keep increasing his odds by keep playing good football. But, whether he wins an MVP this season or not, the Eagles don’t have to worry about the quarterback position for years to come.
