Baker Mayfield, this name has been in the headlines more than any other footballer in the recent past. After all the drama and fallout with the Browns, he was finally traded to the Panthers a little while ago. While many are calling it the best possible scenario for Baker, a lot of experts have opined that he might struggle to uplift a team like the Panthers.
Without a doubt, the Panthers have a lot to improve from the last season. Nothing really went their way last time around and as far as Baker is concerned, the Panthers might just be the right franchise to actually show everyone that he has what it takes to guide even a weak team out of trouble.

However, if Baker will get to start for the Panthers or not is still a mystery. As it turns out, the Carolina-based franchise is set to hold a competition during camp to finalize who’ll be getting the big job. Sam Darnold is definitely in the race and needless to say, Baker will also come out all guns blazing as even he can’t wait to especially take on the Browns in the season opener.
As far as rookie left tackle Ickey Ekwonu is concerned, he just wants to give his best irrespective of who ends being the starting quarterback. “Competition brings best out of everybody” Ekwonu said as reported by Jane Slater of NFL Media.
“Whoever the coaching staff puts out there, you know, I feel like we’ll be ready to go,” Ekwonu stated. “We’re all just excited to enter training camp. I feel like we all got full confidence in the coaching staff and whoever’s back there, I’ll be doing everything I can to keep him safe.”
It will be interesting to see who finally gets to be the side’s starting QB, Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold.
