Trade sagas can often become very messy if they are not handled delicately. A trade saga with a fanbase as hyped as the Seattle Seahawks is bound to get a bit messy. Russell Wilson is a top 10 QB in the league and is the type of player who will elevate the level of any team he is put on, making it an instant threat in any conference.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Peter Caroll was asked how should Russell Wilson should be received by seahawks fans in the reunion matchup with the seahawks. To which he replied, “You are either competing, or you are not, I’m leaving it up to the 12s.”
“It’s game time and we are going for it, so however they take it, I will follow their lead on that. I’m not going to be involved in that opportunity to react, so I don’t have to make that decision. The Seahawks’ objective will be to win by a single point, even if it probably won’t be as nasty as it was when Brett Favre made his comeback to Lambeau Field as a Viking in 2009. Wilson repeated the adage every single week for ten years when he lived in Seattle. Go 1-0.
Seattle needs its supporters to be antagonistic rather than friendly in order for them to succeed. The 12s must raise the volume to 11 regardless of the Broncos’ QB. Carroll, too. has indirectly granted them authority to hand Wilson the business.
The match between the Broncos and Seahawks is more important than just any game of football. Both sides knew that they were going to meet at some point but no one expected them to meet this early in the season. Emotions will be riding high on this matchup and the Seahawks have a chance to prove that they made the right decision by dropping Wilson.
