Russell Wilson is currently having the worst season of his career as an NFL quarterback after deciding to leave Seattle to play for the Denver Broncos. The Super Bowl-winning QB decided to sign with Denver in the 2022 off-season.
The Denver Broncos acquired Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in one of the biggest trades in NFL history. The Seahawks got QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant, and DL Shelby along with two first-round picks, two-second round picks, and a fifth-round pick in return for the talented quarterback. Denver did not mind giving up this much to get a franchise QB since they thought they were pretty much set in all the other positions.
The Broncos also hired Nathaniel Hackett as their new head coach to pair up with their expensive QB and they entered this season as Super Bowl contenders. But nothing went according to the plan for the Broncos, as the blockbuster trade turned out to be one of the worst trades in NFL history. The Broncos are projected to finish dead last in the AFC West. This is mostly due to the bad plays at the QB position and some bone-headed decisions by the (now ex) head coach.
The awful 4-11 season has raised a lot of questions and the Broncos answered by firing their rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett before he can even complete one season as a head coach. Russell Wilson has expressed his opinion about Hackett’s firing by saying that he wishes he could’ve played better for his head coach.
Undoubtedly Wilson has disappointed a lot of Broncos fans including former Broncos TE and renowned analyst Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe criticized Wilson for not only his terrible performances throughout the season but also for being a bad teammate.

Shannon Sharpe Slams Russell Wilson
Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe heavily criticized Wilson for the failure of the Denver Broncos this season. Speaking on his show UNDISPUTED with Skip Bayless, Sharpe said that Russell Wilson has lost his athleticism, which always helped the QB to make off-script plays during his time at Seattle.
The Hall Of Fame TE also believes that Wilson has to do some things differently to turn things around in Denver. Sharpe recalled how in his playing days, John Elway (Former Broncos QB) was never treated differently than other players, even though he had certain perks and privileges. The 3-time Super Bowl champion advised Wilson to change the things that make his teammates speak against him. “They (his teammates) don’t rally around Russ, you (referring to Wilson) need to change some things bruh,” said Sharpe on a recent episode of his show UNDISPUTED.
Shannon Sharpe was a former NFL player who played for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens during his 14-year-long NFL career. He has won three Super Bowls during his tenure and has been to Pro Bowl 8 times.
