“Brady, Burrow, Rodgers…”: Shannon Sharpe names 10 other QBs he would pick over Vikings Kirk Cousins

“Brady, Burrow, Rodgers…”: Shannon Sharpe names 10 other QBs he would pick over Vikings Kirk Cousins

The Minnesota Vikings are not expected to come out of the NFC North this season. The team does not have enough weapons on offense or on defense, though there are good players like Justin Jefferson and RB Dalvin Cook who are certified Pro Bowlers, apart from them there is nobody else who stands out. Though Cousins was named to last year’s Pro Bowl, he made it only because Aaron Rodgers was unable to play.

Kirk Cousins is not the best quarterback in his division, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Fields, and Jared Goff are the other QBs in the same division. Rodgers is clearly the best but Cousins is at best a mediocre QB. Is Baker Mayfield better than him? Well, that is too far a stretch to go. When asked if there are 10 other QBs that you would have over Cousins by a fan, Shannon Sharpe responded with 10 solid candidates.

Would you rather have Kirk Cousins or any of the following quarterbacks, Tom Brady, Joe Burrow, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen, and Kyler Murray? You would probably pick one from those 10 names.

Kirk Cousins is not bad by any means, in the last season, he had over 4,000 yards passing, 33 TDs, and 7 INTs. As a matter of fact, he was ranked 13th in the NFL out of 62 quarterbacks by NFL.com based on stats. That is good, but when you take into account the fact that he has consistently been the 13th ranked QB in the league for three years straight, it means that he has hit his ceiling and that the only way from here is down.

In addition to this, whenever the Vikings have needed Kirk Cousins to be aggressive and step up to the plate, he has failed to show up.

During the regular season, Cousins is a good quarterback but come postseason or crucial moments in games, he gets nervous and is unable to keep it together. In that division, the Vikings have a shot to come out on top, however, they need to get past the Packers for that, and if your offense is not good against Green Bay, you do not have a shot.

Though the team has a solid run game with a bull in Dalvin Cook, defenses can predict and draw up plays to stop him as they know he is the go-to option for the team.

It is to be seen how Cousins will play this season and if he will indeed break all the stereotypes around his gameplay.
