Another bad day in the business for the legendary coach Bill Belichick as the New England Patriots lost against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. It was a weird low-scoring encounter as the Chargers only secured 6 points and that too at the last quarter. Both teams were at 0-0 after three and the Chargers scored a game-winning touchdown that sealed the encounter in favor of them.
This was the Patriots’ 10th defeat of the season. In twelve games, the Patriots have lost 10 and have won only two. This is one of the worst seasons for a manager who is considered one of the greatest ever to go down in NFL history after winning Six Super Bowls.
Seeing the horrible performance of the team this season, former players have already expressed their surprise. Even Rob Gronkowski, the former TE who had nine seasons under Belichick’s coaching, expressed that this team does not seem to be ruled by a person like Belichick.
After the defeat against the Chargers, Skip Bayless took a jibe at the Patriots head coach. The Pats have lost six games at home with a single win and lost four away games with another win. Referring to that, the veteran analyst took a jibe at the manager.
Taking the issue on X, Bayless wrote:
Bill Belichick is now 2-10 … 1-6 at home. Chargers 6, Patriots ZERO … at Gillette. Belichick: exposed.
Throughout this season, Belichick are going through a quarterback problem. His first-choice, Mac Jones, performed horribly in the season. With 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, Jones became difficult to watch.
The veteran head coach had no other option except to change Jones. He introduced Bailley Zappe. However, the change in the quarterback did little good to the team as they had another embarrassment of a performance.
Tom Brady is haunting Bill Belichick and Patriots
After the horrible season that the New England team is into, analysts have started raising fingers at the head coach’s credibility in running this team. Multiple personalities have questioned Belichick’s efficiency without Tom Brady.
The New England Patriots won their last Super Bowl in 2019 with Tom Brady on their side. Since his departure, the Patriots are yet to register a single playoff win. On the other hand, Brady went on to grab another Lombardi with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.
No wonder the question is popping on every NFL fans mind. Is Belichick enough to gift his team a Super Bowl without Brady? The answer does not seem yes as the veteran coach is suffering from a quarterback problem.
Will all of these things lead to a job cut for the veteran? Time will tell.
