“He’s THREATENED by him”: Skip Bayless BLASTS Dak Prescott for taking cheap shots at Cooper Rush
Skip Bayless believes Dak Prescott is jealous of Cooper Rush succeeding in his absence.
No one’s job is safe, especially not Dak Prescott‘s, as the starter of the Dallas Cowboys. Following his injury in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Prescott has been out and is expected to return this week or the week after. In his absence, the team has relied on backup Cooper Rush and they have thrived with him at the helm. The team has gone on a 5-0 run with Rush as the starter, a feat that Prescott has not been able to achieve.
In light of this, there have been several questions raised about whether Dak Prescott deserves to be the starter when he is fit to play. Many believe that the Dallas Cowboys should let Cooper Rush continue to be the starter and see how long this streak continues to last. If this question is on the mind of fans and analysts, it is definitely on the mind of Jerry Jones.
The owner is questioning the 160 million dollar extension that he gave Dak for 4-years while Cooper Rush is making 2 million in his 2-year contract with the team. Rush has shown results, Dak on the other hand has not.
“I want my team back”: Dak Prescott is doing everything in his power to get back on the field before Cooper Rush does any more damage to his reputation.
Dak Prescott took a dig at Cooper Rush by stating, “Obviously, we all know what we can do when we’re healthy in the pass game.” In light of these comments, Skip Bayless, arguably the biggest Cowboys fan ever had an issue with the quarterback’s comments and criticized him for his statements.
Here’s what Skip Bayless had to say about Prescott’s comments: “I have a problem with what he said. Dak Prescott took a shot at Cooper Rush, unwarranted though predictable. They (Dallas Cowboys) have been pretty healthy with Cooper Rush, I think he’s saying when ‘I’ll come back, we’ll take it up a notch.”
Skip goes on to add that Dak Prescott is coming to terms with the bitter truth that he is no longer the face of the Cowboys franchise, Micah Parsons is. “The more we talk here, the more we talk nationally, Micah is becoming a BIG THING. I believe that Dak has become extremely threatened by Cooper Rush because Cooper did not just keep his (Dak Prescott’s) seat warm but he’s turned it into a hot seat for Dak.”
In an interview with Tom Rinaldi, Dak Prescott made sure he got the most air time at the Cowboys game last week. He spoke more than Cooper Rush and any other player on the team. Here’s what Bayless had to say on this, “Dak came right over to him (Tom Rinaldi) shook his hand, and said to him (paraphrasing) ‘How do you like my grip, my grip feels pretty strong, doesn’t it? He was campaigning for the media to know, ‘I’m ready to go, I want my team back.’ I feel sorry for him if he gets thrown into the fire at Philadelphia because I don’t think after 5-6 weeks off he’ll be ready for that cauldron that he would get thrown into.”
Dak Prescott is doing everything in his capacity to remind fans that he is still the starting QB and he has been actively talking to the media just to keep his reputation and position intact. Cooper Rush, on the other hand, is letting his actions speak for themselves.
Skip Bayless had this to say about Cooper Rush, “I don’t appreciate the shot at Cooper Rush because Cooper does not have Dak’s ego. All I know about Cooper Rush is every time he got called to make a throw, he made the throw. Not one time did I sit back and say, ‘He’s just an undrafted nobody or a fraud from Central Michigan.’ Every time he had a free rusher in his face, he seemed to stand in his place and make the throw.“
“It’s beneath Dak to have to do that but that’s where he’s been pushed by Cooper Rush’s magic run that he’s had not just for 4 games but for 5 games. Nobody in the history of this league had won their first 4 starts with a 90+ passer rating and Cooper Rush did that. Now Dak is wearing on his sleeve just how threatened he is by Cooper Rush,” Skip concludes.
It does not come as a surprise how Dak is reacting to this, as it is the first time his position has been under threat. However, Cooper Rush is playing his cards right and with Dak talking more, things could backfire on him if he were to come back into the lineup and the Cowboys end up playing badly under him than they did with Rush as the starter.
