Stephen A. Smith claims FSU wouldn’t have gotten left out of the playoffs if Deion Sanders was their head coach
The Buffs finished at the bottom of its division having won just 4-games but that did not stop them from selling out the stadium almost every game.

The College Football Playoff committee’s picks are in. The upcoming CFP will feature the Michigan Wolverines, the Texas Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Washington.
A notable absence from this list is Florida State University as the Seminoles went 13-0 this season. Their absence from this list led to the CFP Committee receiving a lot of backlash over this decision. However, Stephen A. Smith is not at all surprised at this decision.
The analyst blamed the Texas Christian University and its massacre against the Georgia Bulldogs last season in the college football playoffs. Being an underdog institution, the Horned Frogs managed to make the cut after going 13-2 in the season but Lord have mercy, as they were brutally beaten by the Bulldogs with the final score being 65-7.

Stephen A. had this to say via First Take:
The people that you should be blaming most is TCU. TCU went into the National Championship last year against Georgia and got beat down and bum rushed--We have learnt that college sports particularly college football is a business. When you take that into consideration and Jordan Travis is out....what you have is a committee that looked at what transpired last year...
Due to the TCU massacre of last season, Smith believes the committee felt it right to leave FSU out this season to avoid a repeat of the National Championship last season.
Stephen A. Smith is certain that FSU would have made the cut had Deion Sanders been their HC
The only way Stephen A. Smith sees the Florida State Seminoles making the playoffs is if their alumnus Deion ‘Primetime’ Sanders was coaching them.
I bet you if Primetime Deion Sanders was their coach, they wouldn't have gotten left out. (Mike) Norvell is a sensational coach and he's done a sensational job...but if Primetime had an undefeated team, the sizzle he brings to the sport matters...because it is a business.

Stephen A. is absolutely right on this one. Look at what Deion Sanders has done to the Colorado Buffaloes football program this season alone. The team finished at the bottom of its division having won just 4-games but that did not stop them from selling out the stadium almost every game. Sanders managed to get stars such as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Michael Irvin, Terrell Owens, and other notable athletes and celebrities out to the Buffaloes’ games.

If FSU had him at the helm, it is not even a question if they would have been picked by the CFP committee as Primetime means business and that is what college football is all about now.
The storyline would be perfect. A Florida State alumnus goes to the NFL, establishes himself as the best defensive back ever, and then returns to his alma mater as an HC and goes undefeated.
