The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the New England Patriots in a dramatic last-minute fumble on Christmas Eve. But that was not the only drama the AFC Champions had to deal with on Saturday.
After surviving the second-half scare against the Patriots, the Bengals faced another nervous situation when their plane was forced to make an emergency landing due to some engine trouble. Following the game, the Bengals took off from Providence airport around 7:30 p.m. ET. The flight back home to Cincinnati would’ve taken approximately two hours. However, it took way longer than that due to an engine issue forcing the plane to make an emergency landing at JFK airport in New York City.
According to reports, the Bengals plane landed at JFK airport within an hour after it took off from Providence airport. Once the plane landed at JFK airport, the Bengals team was told to get off the plane, so they could board a new one. The entire Bengals team got out and waited for their new plane at JFK. The team survived the scare and boarded the new plane to Cincinnati, which got them home around 1 a.m. ET, almost four hours delay compared to their original flight time.
The Bengals don’t have to board a plane anytime soon as they will be closing their regular season with two back-to-back home games against the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens.

After starting their season with two back-to-back losses, the Bengals have rallied back to the winning ways. The reigning AFC Champions have won 7 straight games and will look to win out the rest of the games in the regular season.
The Bengals have already confirmed their playoff spot but they haven’t clinched their division yet. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Cincinnati-based franchise is not only aiming to win their division and get a home playoff game but they will also look to win the No.1 seed and get a first-round bye week during the postseason.
But the Bengals have a mountain to climb to reach their goals. They have to face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills next week and a tough Baltimore Ravens who might have Lamar Jackson back for that game. If they manage to win both games, they have a chance to clinch the No.1 seed.
As for the Chiefs, they are in a good situation as they control their destiny when it comes to clinching the No.1 seed. They just have to win the rest of their games. The Chiefs have an easier path compared to the Bengals as they are set to face the Broncos and the Raiders in their remaining two games.
