“They’ve bought him here for a reason,” retired QB Ben Roethlisberger believes that Mitch Trubisky should replace him as the Steeler’s QB
Ben Roethlisberger
Ben Roethlisberger retired from the NFL this season and the Steelers have been since trying to replace him. On the first episode of his podcast Footbahlin, Roethlisberger stated that QB Mitch Trubisky is the ideal personality to replace the former QB.
Roethlisberger firmly believed that Mitch Trubisky should start as the starting QB for the Steelers in their first game of the season against the Bengals. Though coach Mike Tomlin still has to announce his decision, it is likely believed that it is either Trubisky or rookie QB Kenny Pickett.
Ben Roethlisberger believes that Mitch Trubisky will be a great mentor to Kenny Pickett who will later take over the reins from Trubisky. Despite the success, Kenny is seeing Roethlisberger believes he’ll be better suited as a rookie this season.
“I think it would benefit him, and i would say this about almost all rookie quarterbacks, it benefits you to sit behind a veteran for some time.” Ben Roethlisberger stated on his podcast.
“He’s played well enough to be a starter”: Ben Roethlisberger believes Mitch Trubisky has got what it takes to start for the Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger thinks that Mitch Trubisky is a great QB and a great leader. Though the main issue in the Steelers QB area is mobility. This is where Kenny Pickett shines, the rookie QB is mobile and effective with his throws but still has a lot to learn.
Coach Mike Tomlin still has to decide on the No.1 QB spot. Though Trubisky will likely start over Pickett as he has been the starter most of the preseason. Trubisky was also started with the vision of him becoming a starter and that’ll come true now as Ben Roethlisberger has retired and Pickett is inexperienced.
In Conclusion, the Pittsburgh Steelers have two effective QBs who can perform very well, so if Trubisky’s form declines then Pickett will gladly take over from him. This will be an interesting NFL season for the Steelers.
