Tom Brady has just announced his decision to retire from the NFL ‘for good.’ The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram handle in which he cut through the chase and made it clear that he is retiring and will no longer consider playing in the NFL. The GOAT looked visibly emotional and rightfully so. He has had a wonderful journey that people can only dream of. However, while Brady’s announcement may come as a sudden shock to a few, that was not really the case.

In the latest iteration of his Let’s Go! podcast on which Jim Gray and Larry Fitzgerald are co-hosts, Brady had a special guest over. It was none other than ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. The sports analyst appeared on the show and had an insightful conversation with Tom Brady. One of the topics that surfaced was regarding the next chapter of Tom’s life. The quarterback has inked a multi-year deal with FOX Sports that is worth $350+ million and the best part about that contract was it begins at the discretion of Tom Brady.

Stephen A. Smith has been in the broadcasting industry for a long time and he shared his opinions and expressed faith that Tom Brady will be just as successful in the broadcasting industry as he was playing on the field. Take a look at what Smith had to say: “What I want to say to you is this…when you get into that booth, Tom Brady I’m here to tell you, you’re going to teach people a lot and I’m not talking about football.”

Stephen A. Smith went on to praise Brady and believes his valuable insights would be interesting to hear and would fascinate viewers. However, this is where it gets interesting. Tom begins to respond to Smith’s comments and, by the tone of his statement, it appears that the quarterback had already made his mind up about retiring from the NFL.

Brady had this to say, “There’s so much to learn, there’s so much to teach, it’s ever-evolving. Believe me, as much as you think I’m willing to you know teach people, I’m really looking to learn from all the people that I talk to. I get an opportunity to be in a job in the future where I get to travel around and learn from all the people that I’ve looked up to and admired and different organizations and different people. So, it’s exciting for me too, I feel like it’s the opportunity to do that is something I’m really looking forward to whenever the time comes.”

Tom spoke in depth about how excited he was about becoming an analyst and entering this new chapter of his life, while he did explicitly mention that he intended to do it right away, fans have not heard him speak this passionately about joining the broadcasting booth before. His attitude has always been to focus on the next season and not worry about what comes later. However, this time his tone was different, and it was a hint to fans that he was done.

Tom Brady always loves to confuse fans, defenses, and coaches across the league. It comes as no surprise that he dropped such a subtle hint in the midst of his podcast. It will be exciting for fans to see the greatest football player become a sports analyst, as it will give them an insight into how he thinks and views the game.
