The Chiefs-Bengals rivalry seems to have increased in the past two years. With Joe Burrow as the quarterback, Cincinnati has been able to make back-to-back AFC Championship games alongside Patrick Mahomes, who has led Kansas City to their 5th straight AFC title game.
Joe Burrow has an undefeated 3-0 record against Mahomes. The 2023 AFC Championship is a repeat of last year, where the Bengals defeated the hosting city in overtime in one of the craziest matches of the postseason.
Now that the Bengals have advanced to the AFC Championship game again this season, players are dubbing Arrowhead Stadium as ‘Burrowhead’ for his undefeated streak. Cornerback Mike Hilton started this fiasco when he looked into a camera and said it after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the divisional playoffs.
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval trolls the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of matchup
Players making jokes about Burrowhead is alright, but now looks like politicians have also joined in the trash talk. Cincinnati’s mayor Aftab Pureval trolled Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in a small video he posted on Facebook, which quickly went viral. “Whereas Joseph Lee Burrow, who’s 3-0 against Mahomes, has been asked by officials to take a paternity test to (confirm) whether or not he’s his father…And whereas Kansas City is named after its neighboring state which is, you know, just kind of weird,” Pureval said in his proclamation.
This video from Mayor Pureval set the Internet on fire with Cincy fans applauding him for roasting their opponents in an epic manner and others weren’t too keen on a politician joining in the banter. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas remained classy and make a show of it but just simply responded with a tweet. Lucas wrote, “No need to respond. KC’s got class. Cincinnati has Jerry Springer and no rings. See them Sunday.”
While Kansas City Mayor USD had some kind words, other NFL loving folks were not so kind on Pureval’s unnecessary provocations. Have a look at some of those reactions.
The Bengals have to win the Lamar Hunt Trophy because if they don’t, all the trash talking they’ve been doing will come back to bite them!
