Blake Bortles was drafted no.3 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2014 NFL draft other than an AFC Championship game appearance that was the highlight of his career. Bortles had a stellar college career for which he was last year inducted into the UCF Hall of Fame but he was never able to replicate that success in the NFL. A career that apparently ended last year without any bells and whistles per the New York Post.
If you are surprised by the news then join the club Bortles who played for 4 different teams in the last 3 years of his career apparently retired after last season and hasn’t touched a football since January and is officially retired, the news was broken by Bortles himself when he appeared on Pardon My Take podcast by Barstool Sports. Bortles last suited up for the New Orleans Saints. In total Bortles spent 8 years in the league and played for 5 different teams the Jaguars, the LA Rams, the Denver Broncos, the Green Bay Packers, and the aforementioned Saints.

Blake Bortles during his appearance surprised the hosts of the podcasts when he announced that he retired when they asked him about his future in the league and his team of interest-“I didn’t tell anybody I retired. A couple of months ago, probably, just didn’t tell anyone. So, I guess you guys are kind of the first to hear it publicly, maybe?”
When asked by the hosts whether he would unretire and possibly joins the Denver Broncos or the New England Patriots for a 2-year,$15 million deal, Blake replied-“Two for $15 million? I would be there in a heartbeat.”
Bortles even said that he hadn’t touched a football since January. The opening is still there for Bortles to return for the right price if any team is interested as per his retirement it is unclear whether he has filed his papers with the league.
