Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are currently negotiating the talented quarterback’s contract extension. Burrow is expected to sign a massive deal that could make him one of the highest-paid NFL players of all time. In the meantime, he is currently focused on leading his team to the Super Bowl game once again in the 2023 season.

Amidst this, the Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has praised his quarterback Joe Burrow‘s intangibles and talent while also claiming he’ll be the 1st overall pick in most NFL Drafts due to the position he plays. Recently, Zac Taylor made an appearance on The Mental Game Podcast hosted by Brandon Saho to talk about the Bengals’ off-season.

“He plays a position that is a franchise-changing position. When you get a guy with the qualities that he has who plays at the level that he has, that combination equals what you’re saying,” Taylor told Saho. “He’s one of those guys who is a surefire first pick in the draft. He would be the first pick in most drafts – I might even say most drafts I’ve been a part of.”

Taylor also claimed that selecting Joe Burrow as the No.1 overall pick back in 2020 was a ‘no-brainer’ since Burrow possessed every quality that they were looking for in a quarterback. Burrow has been a massive force in the league ever since he was drafted by the Cincinnati-based football team. During the 2 seasons, he was fully healthy, Burrow led the Bengals to back-to-back AFC Championship games and even reached the Super Bowl once.

The Cincinnati Bengals recently picked up the 5th year option of their former 1st overall pick Joe Burrow. This move will buy the franchise some time to negotiate contract extensions with the star quarterback.

While some experts speculate, the contract extension will make Joe Burrow one of the highest-paid NFL players of all time, others expect Burrow to take the Tom Brady approach and sign a team-friendly concept.

Even the Pro Bowl QB claimed that he’s looking to sign a team-friendly contract that would allow the Bengals to keep Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase in Cincinnati for a long time.

Burrow is currently entering the final year of his rookie deal, if the Bengals and Burrow can’t reach a middle ground on an extension before the 2024 regular season, the 2021 Comeback Player of the Year award winner will play the 2024 season for the Bengals on the 5th year option. He will make $29.5 million for one season by playing on the 5th year option.
