“He was an INNOCENT BYSTANDER”: Stephen A. Smith is pushing for Davante Adams to be suspended for his unprofessional conduct

Stephen A. Smith believes Davante Adams should be suspended for a game for his unsportsmanlike conduct.

What happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas. The performance of the Las Vegas Raiders this season has been disappointing. The team has so much potential and star power, yet they have failed to live up to the hype. They have won just one out of their five games and in yesterday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs; the team came so close to winning it but due to a communication error and poor timing of Hunter Renfrow and Davante Adams, they blew a chance to close out the game.

After the game, Davante Adams was furious, especially after the play in which he bumped into Renfrow by mistake. That play could have potentially won the Raiders the game. While Davante Adams was returning to the locker room, due to his anger and frustration, he pushed a man who was handling the camera and equipment because he happened to be doing his job and was in the way of the wide receiver.

“There’s no way the NFL lets that slide”: Stephen A. Smith thinks the league will act against Davante Adams as his act was caught on camera.

Stephen A. Smith criticizes Davante Adams for not keeping his emotions under check.

The man had done nothing wrong. He did not yell at Adams, nor did he take any pictures of him leaving the field, but he became the victim of his anger. After the game, while giving his post-game conference in the locker room, Davante Adams had time to cool off, and he issued an apology to the person who he shoved by mistake. However, he may not get off that easy, at least not according to Stephen A. Smith.

Stephen A. Smith spoke about the situation on First Take and believes the league will be taking strict action against him for his behavior. Here is what he had to say on the chances of the wideout being suspended.

“Expect it. What you have to do if you’re the league is to remind everyone, no matter how upset you are, that was an innocent bystander. It wasn’t even some paparazzi flashing the camera in front of your face after you had just run into your teammate and ended up losing the game. It was literally an innocent bystander that you extended your hand and shoved to the ground. You didn’t walk over to help him up, and you didn’t say anything until you went to the locker room and cooled off,” the analyst believes that Adams should have known better and kept his emotions in check despite having had a bad game.

He goes on to add that the NFL would not appreciate this incident as it was televised on Monday Night Football. “If you’re the NFL and that’s caught on camera, on National Television for Monday Night Football, there is no way that you are going to let that slide. I’m not telling you he deserves a suspension because he is some bad dude or anything like that. I think he’s a very good guy, I don’t want anyone to cast aspersions on his character. He was caught up in the moment. We understand why he is frustrated but if you’re the NFL, you’re sending the message, no matter how frustrated you are, you can’t do that.”

Stephen A. makes a fair point. The league cares more about its image and this incident is not a good look. Davante Adams had every reason to be mad but the fact that he took it out on an innocent person who was just doing his job does not serve as an excuse for him to get away with it. He is likely to be suspended for one game or at the very least fined for his actions.
