“Why the hell would he choose Cleveland?!” Twitter goes nuts as Deshaun Watson is traded to the Cleveland Browns

Deshaun Watson has been all over the headlines since the grand jury elected to not indict the quarterback on his sexual misconduct allegations. Since then, we’ve come right back to where we were before with all the teams that wanted a star quarterback clamoring over him.

The Texans were willing to deal Deshaun Watson but ultimately, it came down to him as he had a no-trade clause, meaning if he didn’t want to go somewhere, he wouldn’t be. That was the very reason many people believed he wouldn’t go to the Browns but it seems the exact opposite has happened as Ian Rapoport reported earlier.

Most rumors flying around were related to Watson possibly going to the Panthers or the Saints or even the Falcons. While there was talk about him going to the Browns, most of that went away as it seemed that Cleveland was out of the running after their meeting.

Well, they clearly were all in on Deshaun Watson and it seems to have worked out as they must’ve made a great proposal to him when they met earlier. Now, they have their new QB1 who has great stars around him like Amari Cooper and Nick Chubb.

As of now, the information we know about the trade fits the rumors. The Browns will be sending 3 first-round picks along with additional late-round picks in exchange for Deshaun Watson. The 3 first-rounders are what the Texans made very clear that they wanted which makes sense given that Watson is only 26 years old.

As mentioned earlier, it is slightly surprising given that many felt Watson wouldn’t choose Cleveland but in the end, they have the roster and now have the QB who also is getting paid some serious money to be there as it is reportedly a 5-year fully guaranteed $230 million contract.

NFL fans have had a lot to say on Twitter this offseason given the craziness that’s occurred and it certainly is no different this time around. Here are some of the best reactions.
