Starting off with Brad Marchand’s nickname origin, the forward has one name which is his favorite while another which he absolutely hates. He likes the nickname ‘Nose Face Killah’ while disliking Rick’s given name ‘Marshmont’. Marchand explained that he doesn’t like names that mess up his surname.

The name ‘Marshmont’ became popular after Rick from Natick kept mispronouncing Marchand’s last name. He pronounced ‘Marchand’ as ‘Marshmont’ and kept calling him that for years. The name caught social media attention and many started calling him that, regardless of his outward hatred towards the name.

Marchand once called out Rick stating, “I don’t like Marshmont”. He coldly stated that people start calling him whatever they believe makes them feel cool about it. He said, sometimes they don’t care it it’s “seen as disrespectful.”

Even though they know the forward doesn’t like the name, they kept calling him that. The veteran winger clarified that he is not  “disrespecting their name or anything” but not all name is loved by the player himself.

He gave them the right to call him whatever they want but that doesn’t mean he wants to speak with them any further, “I’m not fond of the name.” On the other hand, he is quite in favor of ‘Nose Face Killah’. The forward even celebrated the name by donning the phrase around the locker room.

When asked what the ‘Rat’ thought of his new nickname, he commented, “I don’t know yet”.  Marchand said that there are a lot of nicknames that keep popping up “out of nowhere right now”. The new nickname ‘brat’ is “just another one on the list.

He admitted that people seem to enjoy coming up with new nicknames every once in a while and it does earn a “good little laugh about it, especially if you embrace one or two.” Marchand said it’s “fun.” All his nicknames were either attributed to his on-ice antics like licking and kissing players or his fearless personality.
