Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner recalls May 16, 2022, carjacking case where he and his fiancee Stephanie LaChance were victims at gunpoint. The case has finally come to an end with Toronto police arresting two suspects. Marner commented on the case relieving the memories of the horrifying evening of 2022.
He noted that he will never wish for anyone to experience what he went through especially with their beloved ones. The robbery case took place at a movie theatre in the Queensway and Islington Avenue area parking lot. Marner and his fiancee, Stephanie were headed toward their car when a black Honda Civic blocked their path.
Two men with guns in their hands approached the Leafs forward demanding the keys to their black 2021 Land Rover, while a third man armed with a knife went for their mobiles. Following Wednesday’s arrest notice, Marner stated how relieved he felt upon that the suspects were facing severe charges.

Mitch Marner said, “The detective called me a couple days ago and gave me a rundown on everything”. “I gave my thanks to them and my gratitude and appreciation because it wasn’t easy. There wasn’t many cameras or anything around.”
“The sun was going down so it was tough to see everything, but they did a good job sticking with it and getting the job done.” “It’s nice to have the closure,” Marner said. “It’s finally good that I don’t have to probably talk about it anymore, to be honest.”
As per a statement from Toronto Police, the suspects Christon Arman Johnson (24) and Anas Adan Farah (21) were taken into custody on Wednesday. Marner noted, “I’ve been getting updates throughout, but not really trying to follow along”.
“Not trying to relive that moment too many times. Trying to just forget about it, get over it and realize, you know, it’s just kind of an unlucky situation you’re a part of and hopefully a one-time thing.” “It’s a scary situation”. “It’s a situation that I don’t think any person wants to be a part of or experience especially with a loved one.”
Now with the carjacking case resolved, Leafs will be looking forward to their revenge matches against Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Following their previous loss, Auston Matthews said, “You’d like to have a response and sharpen up some of our details that we didn’t seem to have a week ago”.
Leafs’ coach Sheldon Keefe blasted the team following their earlier loss, as Oilers captain Connor McDavid took full advantage of their lackluster situation and won over the game. Matthews praised McDavid stating, “What he’s doing is pretty insane”. “Obviously he’s in a class of his own and what he’s been doing is pretty remarkable”.
