Well, looks like the Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni would probably prefer to avoid media for some time after he accidentally spilled out an injury that quarterback Jalen Hurts is currently recovering from, which has been kept under wraps by the franchise ahead of their upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys.
It happened during the press conference following Friday’s practice session when the star quarterback was not spotted in the practice. Interestingly, when head coach Sirianni was asked about it, he accidentally revealed that the team is being cautious with Hurts since he is dealing with an injury– only to realize a moment later that the injury hasn’t yet been revealed to the media.
However, since the two-time Pro Bowler was not enlisted on the injury report, the reporters jumped into the conversation highlighting it. That’s when Sirianni realized that he wasn’t supposed to say anything and so he looked at the Eagles PR Staff.

A PR Staffer clarified that the quarterback was listed for rest and not an injury, to which Sirianni quickly added, “It was a rest, yeah. Sorry. I thought you were talking about something else.”
However, the reporters continued asking about the star quarterback’ injury but Sirianni insisted that he mistakenly mentioned the injury and that the Second Team All-Pro is resting.
Jalen Hurts’ ankle injury confirmed ahead of NFL East showdown
Although Philly’s head coach made his best effort to cover up the blunder, the quarterback is indeed recovering from an injury. A source close to ESPN’s Tim McManus revealed that the Super Bowl champion has been dealing with a mild ankle injury for a few weeks.
Heading for a crucial divisional game against the Cowboys, the Eagles don’t want Hurts’ injury to be a topic of discussion. That’s why, they enlisted him for rest on Wednesday’s practice session instead of mentioning him on the injury report.
However, this blunder by head coach Sirianni may put the franchise into trouble before the NFL office because of the NFL’s Personnel Report Policy, which states that the teams must mention their injured players on the Injury Report, irrespective of their availability in upcoming games.
