Odell Beckham Jr. remains without a club after last playing for the Miami Dolphins in December 2024. Beckham’s hiatus is nearing its end, according to Adam Schefter. The senior ESPN insider believes that there’s a real chance that Beckham could sign with the New York Giants in the coming days.

The Giants’ wide receiver room consists of Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, and Gunner Olszewski. In the recently concluded draft, general manager Joe Schoen drafted Notre Dame wideout Malachi Fields 74th overall.

Now the attention has shifted to Beckham. On the latest episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Schefter hinted that a reunion between OBJ and the Giants is possible.

Odell Beckham Jr. and the Giants, it sounds like they’ll get something done here at some point in time…. there’s a real chance he’ll be back with the Giants.

Adam Schefter said

Earlier in the year, Beckham participated in Tom Brady‘s Flag Football Invitational and scored a brilliant touchdown. At the event, OBJ told Kay Adams that he is ready to return to the Giants.

If that opportunity presents itself, I would love to do that. Be excited about that. He’s a good dude. He’s young, and he likes to dance. I like all that. So he looks like he likes to have fun. If I get that opportunity…

At the NFL owners’ meeting, Giants head coach John Harbaugh talked about staying in contact with Beckham.

He and I do talk. We do text. We’ve maintained a really great relationship. He’s one of my very favorite people in the world. It’s not like you don’t talk to guys on things like that. And certainly, we have.

Harbaugh said

After the recent workout, Harbaugh spoke with the media and claimed that both parties are trying to figure out a middle ground.

[Odell] looked good. We just have to continue conversations. Talking with him Tuesday night. If we do anything, it has to make sense for the Giants. It has to make sense for him. We’re not decided on that yet. He’s not decided on that yet. Have to see where it is.

Beckham is well acquainted with Harbaugh from their days at the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. He made 14 appearances (started 6), caught 35 passes for 565 yards (16.1 yards per catch), and scored 3 touchdowns. The Ravens released Beckham, and he signed with the Dolphins. In Miami, he played 9 games, all of which were off the bench. He caught 9 passes for 55 yards.

The Dolphins waived him in October 2024. The NFL suspended the 33-year-old for six games at the start of the 2025 season. He did not play any games that year.

The Giants drafted OBJ 12th overall in 2014. Since then, he has made 119 appearances in the league, catching 574 passes for 7,987 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns. He’s a recipient of the Offensive Rookie of the Year, two-time second-team All-Pro, and three-time Pro Bowler.
