Wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 will be kicking off in a few days. There will be two disciplines – Greco-Roman and Freestyle. The Greco-Roman discipline is only for men and women will be participating only in the freestyle discipline. A total of 288 wrestlers are set to compete in the events (totaling 18).
A total of 16 wrestlers compete in each division. The men’s freestyle discipline is divided into 6 categories, starting from the 57kg to 125kg category with 65kg, 74kg, 86kg, 97kg in between. The same applies for women in the freestyle but the category begins from 50kg to 76kg. The Greco-Roman category for men is quite different having categories ranging from 60kg to 130kg.

World champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev will be gunning for glory in the men’s freestyle 97kg category. He is in fact, the favorite to win the Gold medal. Hassan Yazdani of Iran and Taha Akgul of Turkey are also some of the ones to watch out for in the freestyle discipline.
Adeline Gray and Tamyra Mensah-Stock will be keen to land a Gold medal in the 68kg women’s freestyle. Adeline Gray of the USA is a five-time world champion, while Mensah-Stock is the reigning champion.
For India Vinesh Phogat, who competes in the women’s 53kg freestyle and Bajrang Punia – competing in the men’s 65kg freestyle will be the ones to look out for.

Where will Wrestling be held at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020?
The Wrestling games will take place at Makuhari Messe which is a convention center located outside Tokyo. It has been a host to innumerable tech events ever since it was opened in the year 1989 (October). It has a theatre seating of 7860 and 304 in classroom-style seating.
