On Wednesday, June 28, renowned gymnastics star Simone Biles announced her return. The American athlete has taken a break from sports following mental health issues during the 2020 Tokyo Games. She is now getting ready to appear at the US Open Classic in August.

Another reason for her absence from the tournament was the injuries she suffered. Biles was reported to have suffered from “twisties” while she was in mid-air. The injuries are set to have taken a toll on mental health, which left her with an important decision to make. Her sudden withdrawal was not met well with some fans.

Biles’ return in August will also mark the first time she has competed in any sort of event since her break in 2020. Despite her on-field problems, she seemed to have a blast with her off-field drama. In April she got married to her long-time partner, Jonathan Owens, and looked to have enjoyed her private life.

Ever since making her professional debut, Simone Biles has taken the world of gymnastics by storm. In her first Olympic appearance in 2016, she grabbed four-gold medals, signalling the world about her presence. The now 26-year-old shocked the world when she left the previous games in the middle. Biles later hinted at the sexual abuse by Doctor Larry Nassar as a part reason for her trauma.

Though the announcement of her return has brought excitement among one set of fans, some of them are unimpressed with this. They were unhappy following her sudden leave from the 2020 Games and are now slamming Biles following the news of her anticipated return. Here are some reactions which have been thrown at her.

While the news regarding her return is certainly a big one, some are still unpleased. Perhaps Biles will have to earn their respect back, which she definitely can. However, it will be interesting to see how this development plans out. The US Open Classic will take place between August 4-5. It usually serves as a qualification tournament for national championship events.
