In Short
  • Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan is uncertain about Aaron Rodgers' current whereabouts as OTA workouts approach.
  • The Steelers drafted quarterback Drew Allar to strengthen their QB lineup, which includes Mason Rudolph and Will Howard.
  • Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract and is not obligated to report to the Steelers' facility.

Less than ten days remain before the OTA workouts kickoff, but the Pittsburgh Steelers still haven’t heard back from Aaron Rodgers. In the meantime, the Steelers drafted Penn State quarterback Drew Allar to bolster the QB room, which already has Mason Rudolph and 2025 sixth-round pick Will Howard.

The Steelers’ general manager, Omar Khan, recently appeared on the SiriusXM Radio Show to shed light on Rodgers’ whereabouts and the quarterback situation. Khan doesn’t know what the veteran signal caller is doing right now, but he and head coach Mike McCarthy have been in constant contact with him.

I don’t know where, specifically, Aaron is. I can tell you that Aaron and I, and coach [McCarthy] and Aaron, and Aaron’s representatives have had good conversations since the season ended and since Mike [McCarthy] got hired. It’s been positive, but, yeah, I don’t know where he is at this moment.

Omar Khan told Chris Mack on Sirius

Rodgers played 16 games for the Steelers last year. He threw 327 completions for 3322 yards (65.2% completion), 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.

The Steelers finished 10-7 in the regular season and qualified for the wild-card round. They faced off against the Houston Texans. Rodgers threw for just 145 yards and was sacked 4 times. His final pass was a pick-six. The Texans won and advanced to the divisional playoff final.

Steelers insider gave a concerning update on Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is not a fan of the voluntary part of the training camp. Even in the past, he has avoided this phase on several occasions. Famously, he skipped the New York Jets OTAs as he was in Egypt.

The Steelers fans should be a little concerned by Rodgers’ habit. He has only made one appearance since Mike Tomlin resigned as head coach following the defeat in the wild card.

Rodgers went on his buddy Pat McAfee’s show on ESPN and discussed various subjects. However, refrained from giving away too much about his future plans.

Mark Kaboly, Steelers’ correspondent for the Pat McAfee Show, recently posted a tweet that Steelers fans should not ignore.

From everything I can gather, there is no meeting scheduled or expected between Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. I’ve reached out to a couple inside the building, and nobody has seen him yet.

Kaboly tweeted

Rodgers generously signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract rather than penning a three-year, $90 million deal, which was initially reported. As the 42-year-old is not under contract, he has no obligation to report to the Steelers’ facility.

A confident Mike Tomlin backed Aaron Rodgers to start for the Steelers in 2026

Tomlin, 54, walked away from coaching after yet another playoff disappointment. He is gearing up for his second innings as an analyst for NBC Sports, despite being heavily linked to the New England Patriots job.

Last month, Tomlin sat down with Maria Taylor on NBC Sports and made it clear that he sees Rodgers lining up for the Steelers in 2026.

If you had a gun to my head, I would say it is AR [Aaron Rodgers]. I just think it will be Aaron. I just think being around him for the 12 months I was around him, he has a love affair with the game of football.

Mike Tomlin said

The Steelers placed an unrestricted free agent (UFA) tender on Rodgers, securing the rights for the 2026 season and protecting their potential compensatory pick status. Under this tender, Rodgers will see a 10% raise on his 2025 contract ($15 million).
