The Kansas City Chiefs came into this offseason with one plan. Build on last season and become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. After all the additions and subtractions, many felt they did a good job. Prime of them was to surround Patrick Mahomes with a quality receiving core, especially after Rashee Rice‘s troubles with the law.

The first blow of the season was when Rice’s replacement Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown ended his season early. Rice pulled up his socks and became Mahomes’ favorite target. But in their latest win against the Los Angeles Chargers, Mahomes unintentionally did something that could have a lasting impact on their season.

In the very first quarter of the game, with 6 minutes remaining, the three-time Super Bowl MVP threw a pick. Then he went in full steam to try to stop the defender from gaining yards.

On any given Sunday, that competitiveness is applauded. But not tonight. As in trying to do so, he bumped Rice in the knee with his body weight at full speed. The receiver left the game and did not return.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is feared to have suffered a torn ACL during Sunday’s game vs the Chargers, per sources. There will be additional testing to confirm the initial diagnosis.

If this ends up being true, it could be a massive blow for the team. As their receiving core other than Rice has yet to gain steam.

With the law hanging over his head, some did not expect Rashee Rice to have much of an impact this season. But the injury to Brown did not help matters. Now with the second-year WR most likely out, the Chiefs will need others to step up.

Football fans know that Travis Kelce has not had the best of starts this season. He did play much better in this game, but overall, his struggles are apparent. Then, except for that NFL Kickoff game, Xavier Worthy has not exactly lit up the footballing world.

Now with Rashee Rice likely out for the season, Mahomes will have to rely on a receiving core that is made up of players which other teams have cascaded away.

The depleted Los Angeles Chargers could not take advantage of it, but others could. It does not inspire confidence among the Kansas City Chiefs faithful as they want their team to create history. They flooded social media with comments after this development. Examples of some are below;

The Chiefs Kingdom knows now that Patrick Mahomes has to help his remaining receivers play better.

They may have won 4 straight games, but they are well aware that they are not running on all cylinders at the moment. Their Super Bowl chances seem to take a hit with every passing game.
