Paul Heyman was emotional after Brock Lesnar indicated he was done from WWE at this year’s WrestleMania. ‘The Beast’ succumbed to a sub-five-minute loss at the hands of Oba Femi. It tore Lesnar apart so much so that he removed his gloves and wrestling boots in the middle of that ring and waved the fans goodbye.
Lesnar’s unexpected retirement caught his longtime manager Heyman off guard, and he was balling his eyes out. The two of them hugged it out in undoubtedly the most emotional moment of each other’s professional career. ‘The Wiseman’ has now revealed the exchanges he had with his client in that physical embrace.
They thanked each other for everything they’ve done together in the world of pro wrestling. Heyman asked Lesnar if he found it funny that they were having such a moment in the middle of a packed stadium compounded by the fact that they were being broadcast globally too.

‘The Beast’ didn’t care about any of that stuff and told Heyman it was just about the two of them. ‘The Oracle’ called it a very personal moment for him, which he and Lesnar weren’t hesitant to share with the rest of the world. The WWE Hall of Famer couldn’t hold back his tears on camera back then.
Heyman was then asked by Chris Van Vliet what the fans should make of that moment at WrestleMania given that Lesnar isn’t actually retired and he’s still competing. ‘The Mad Genius’, prior to answering that question, said Brock Lesnar showing his emotions by thanking the fans was truly authentic. Heyman affirmed that the 10-time world champion wanted to acknowledge the audience, and that’s what he did.
Now, speaking of how the fans should ideally remember those emotional turns of events at WrestleMania, Heyman paused for a bit. He then said he’d remember it the way he would’ve felt it if he were in the crowd that evening. Moreover, he’d be appreciative of the fact that he got to experience it and hold it in his data bank as a fan.
Paul Heyman explains his backstage role in WWE
Besides his on-screen time in WWE, Paul Heyman acts as a liaison between certain talent and the creative team. ‘The Oracle’ talked about his current backstage role in the company at length in the aforementioned podcast. Heyman revealed handling behind-the-scenes business for the members of the Vision and Brock Lesnar.

When he’s not on TV, the 60-year-old could be found sitting in the gorilla position, close to WWE CCO Triple H and the coterie of producers and writers. Heyman doesn’t micromanage the shows, but he certainly takes notes of which elements of the programming to continue building toward and also the ones that need to be dropped.
He’s in a position where he can give his feedback about the shows. However, on top of that, he’s primarily there for advising the talent and assessing their performance. Elsewhere in the same conversation, Paul Heyman backed Paul “Triple H” Levesque as the best person for the kind of job he’s doing as the chief content officer of WWE.

Heyman asserted how Levesque has so many masters to serve, be it the distributors of their programming, viz., Netflix, NBCU, and Disney/ESPN; the purchasing audience; and also the talent. Heyman stated that ‘The Game’ understands how important it is to pivot according to the changing landscape.
He also underscored that ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ remains hellbent on the process of catapulting the on-screen characters into box office attractions. Heyman then cited the likes of Oba Femi and Trick Williams to back up his claim. He further singled out Je’Von Evans as headed in that direction, and so will be Sol Ruca.
