Archer Pravin Jadhav’s family threatened over land dispute in native village; May force them to migrate

Indian Olympian and archer Pravin Jadhav who recently represented India at Tokyo 2020, hails from Satara district of Maharashtra. Pravin’s family based in Sarade village was threatened over an ongoing disputed land. According to reports from PTI, the family was threatened to leave the land where their current house is based.
The police had taken action after news coming out and took the local goons who threatened the family to the police station. They also assured security to Pravin Jadhav‘s family. Jadhav’s family lives in a two-room house in Sarade village of Satara. They wished to construct a new house on the existing piece of land. However, the locals disputed the land and some of them threatened Pravin’s family. Pravin’s father Ramesh Jadhav said they would migrate to their relatives’ place 30km away in Baramati if the issue wasn’t resolved.
“Recently when we decided to build a bigger house, our neighbours, whose land is in front of our house, objected, claiming that the entire land is owned by them,” Pravin Jadhav was quoted by PTI. The family has to sell off the materials of construction that were brought as the construction could not start. The materials which were brought at 1.4 lakhs had to be sold for 40,000. Later when the family decided to build a toilet on the land, the neighbour again objected.
The police hoped that the dispute would be resolved in the coming days.
Good Display of Archey by Pravin Jadhav in Tokyo 2020
Pravin Jadhav made his name in Tokyo Olympics when he stood out as the best performer for India in Men’s archery ranking event. With the virtue of his 656 points, he stood out in the 31st position. Being the best Indian performer in Men’s archery ranking, he was elected to partner Deepika Kumari in the Mixed team event of Archery. Deepika Kumari and her partner Atanu Das are the pair who everyone was looking for to participate. But due to a better performance by Pravin Jadhav over teammate Atanu Das led to him teaming up with Deepika.
The Indian team however couldn’t win any medal in Tokyo Olympics. Both the Men’s and Mixed teams were knocked out of the Olympics in the Quarterfinals versus South Korea. Whereas Pravin Jadhav lost to USA’s Brady Ellison in the round of 32 after losing the sets 6-0. Till now India hasn’t won any medal in Archery at the Olympics.
