The hearts of the Tampa Bay Rays were broken once again. On Wednesday, they lost 4-1 in Game 5 against the Milwaukee Brewers and suffered another disappointment in the World Series. With this loss, they scripted an unwanted MLB record.

The Rays were one of the surprise contenders this season. After missing out on the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, many did not fancy them making a strong push this year.

However, the American League East side took everyone by surprise. They went 98-64 in the regular season and won their 5th division title, finishing 4.5 games ahead of the New York Yankees.

As the No.1 seed in the AL, they had a bye in the first round. In the division series, they swept the Yankees 3-0 and reached the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

In the best-of-seven championship series against the Cleveland Guardians, they fell 2-1 down after 3 games. They then won 3 games in a row and finished off the AL Central side in Game 6 to win their 3rd AL Pennant.

With the Brewers sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), a new champion was guaranteed.

In the World Series, the Brewers blew away the Rays. After winning Game 1, the NL Champions came back from a first-inning 4-0 deficit and won 5-4.

Game 3 saw them dismantle the Rays 10-1 with an 8-run 5th inning. It seemed everything was over in Game 4 after Cooper Pratt’s solo home run in the 12th inning put the Brewers up 3-2 and within 3 outs of a championship.

However, the Rays came back with a throwing error and 4 hits to walk off the Brewers 4-3 and avoid the sweep.

The Brewers eventually finished them off 4-1 in Game 5. Pratt drove in 2 runs while Jacob Misiorowski threw 5.2 scoreless innings and gave up just 2 hits.

As The Brew Crew celebrated their first World Series win, the Rays were left to pick themselves up from the ground. This defeat was their 3rd loss in the Fall Classic, having lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008 and to the Dodgers in 2020.

They thus scripted an unwanted MLB record. They became the first team to appear in 3 or more World Series and fail to win a single one.

Eventually, the Brewers outscored the Rays 25-12 across the 5 games while having 21 more (51) hits than the Rays (30).

Junior Caminero opens up about difficult part following Rays’ World Series loss

Caminero had been the standout performer for the Rays this season. In the regular season, he had 42 home runs and 101 RBIs while hitting .276.

In the ALCS, he had a huge run in Game 6 against the Guardians, which put his team on the cusp of the World Series.

In the World Series, though, he was unable to have the same kind of impact. He went 4-for-19 and had just one extra-base hit while batting with a .211 average.

While speaking through his interpreter, the Dominican International claimed hugging his teammates after the defeat was the hardest part.

I think one of the hardest parts was after the game, everybody hugging each other out. So when I started going around hugging the guys, I think that was the most difficult part.

Junior Caminero told the reporters as per Mark Skol, Jr.

This defeat will be painful for them. If a few things had gone in their way, maybe the outcome could have been different.
