In one of his recent episodes of JRE with UFC fighter Belal Muhammad, Joe Rogan discussed Ariel Helwani’s legitimacy as an MMA reporter and journalist. Joe commented that Ariel Helwani’s reporting had been about getting people to say things and called him out for ‘instigation’.
“I’m good friends with Ariel’s uncle and Ariel is a really great journalist. But Ariel Helwani likes to get people to say things,” Joe Rogan commented on Ariel’s style of journalism. Furious about Rogan’s comments, Ariel criticized Joe Rogan and called him out for pushing fake information and narratives.
“What does it even mean to say that Ariel gets people to say things? This is especially rich coming from a guy who was pushing false narratives and fake information over the past years to the point where people demanded to drop him from Spotify which I never agreed with. I ask questions and people answer them, I move on. He’s Dana’s boy,” an angry Ariel Helwani went off on Joe Rogan.
Joe Rogan’s comments came as a result of UFC fighter Sean Brady’s revelation in the lead-up to his UFC 280 fight with Belal Muhammad after Brady’s wife received threats on Instagram.
Ariel Helwani discusses Francis Ngannou’s UFC departure with British sports promoter, Eddie Hearn
In his latest episode of the MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani discussed former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou’s departure from the UFC with British sports promoter and Chairman of Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), Eddie Hearn.
In the interview, Hearn revealed that a possible fight between Francis Ngannou and British boxer, Anthony Joshua might be in the making. The British promoter revealed that the offer made to Francis Ngannou was much more than the ceiling set for him in the UFC.
Upon asking Eddie Hearn how much money Ngannou could make in a fight with Anthony Joshua, Hearn replied, “I’m not gonna put myself in trouble here but Francis is gonna make a lot of money.” “What could he make in the UFC?” Hearn asked Helwani.
“$7 or $8 million, that’s what he said. Thats not even close, right? So the people who said Ngannou made a huge mistake, will be laughed at then,” Helwani further ridiculed the UFC for letting go of Ngannou for asking a bigger prize for a heavyweight super-fight with Jon Jones.
