India will face New Zealand in the first of the three match Test series at home starting on October 16 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Ahead of the start of the Test series, Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah was appointed as the vice-captain of the Test team. Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, talked about the decision and heaped praise on Bumrah.
Sharma praised Bumrah’s maturity and ability to read the game. He preferred not to talk about Bumrah’s tactics as the bowler has not captained the team much. Sharma also feels that Bumrah has the ability to captain a side if the need arises.
Bumrah has captained India in one Test match in 2022 against England at Edgbaston when Sharma was not available. Though India lost the game, Bumrah has enough abilities and understanding to lead India in crucial matches.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently the best bowler across formats
Bumrah has been a revelation for India in international cricket. He has always been the man who has stood up for India when they have been under the pump.
He is certainly the best bowler in international right now and has the ability to win matches singlehandedly. After Sharma, he is probably the man the team relies on as a leader.
Cricket fans are eager to see how Bumrah performs as a vice-captain. The 30-year-old in all possibilities, will lead India in the first two Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia later this year if Sharma misses them due to personal reasons.
