Rohit Sharma may pull out of IPL 2020
Since Mumbai Indians’ Super Over loss to Kings XI Punjab on October 18th, Rohit Sharma, has been missing in action. According to the Mumbai Indians’ statement, he was suffering through a left-leg hamstring strain and was advised to rest for the match against CSK on October 23rd. Kieron Pollard acted as the stand-in captain.
However, the situation started to look serious when Sharma skipped the next match against Rajasthan Royals as well. This was a day before the Indian selection committee picked the squads for the Australia tour, set to go underway on November 27.
Rohit Sharma due to the recurring hamstring injury was kept out of all the three squads for the tour. KL Rahul will take place of Sharma, as limited overs vice-captain for the Australia tour.
Will Rohit Sharma pull out of IPL 2020?
After it was announced that Rohit Sharma isn’t a part of the Australia tour squad, questions are being raised whether he would still continue to be a part of MI squad in IPL 2020.
But it now seems that he might have to pull out of the remaining tournament as well. It is learnt that Sharma might need a good six to eight weeks to completely recover from the injury.
“It is unlikely that Rohit will take any further part in this year’s Indian Premier League. He will have to go back to India and be at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the rehabilitation.” a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Rohit Sharma’s team, Mumbai Indians, is currently topping the team ranking table with 14 points. After their loss against Rajasthan Royals, they need just one win out of the remaining three matches to qualify for the Playoffs.
The defending champions will next be seen locking horns against third ranked Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 28th. But it is unlikely that Rohit Sharma would take part in the match.
