Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold has left quite an impression after the Vikings stayed atop the league with a perfect record. After years of inconsistency and poor performances, Darnold seems to have found a good rhythm in Minneapolis.
In Week 1, the Vikings started with a huge win over a weak New York Giants. In the successive games, they have managed to secure wins over two big teams – both of them having entered the top eight of last year’s postseason.
Mike Florio of NBC caught up with Darnold after the Vikings defeated the Houston Texans 34-7. Florio spoke about how young quarterbacks are written off by teams with Darnold. Sam Darnold acknowledged that media can have their opinions. However, Darnold who took over from JJ McCarthy after the latter was injured at the end of the offseason stressed the importance of being grounded.
Darnold’s current mindset is reaping the rewards. He has eight TDs, including a phenomenal four against the Texans, registering 53-78 for 657 yards through three games. The past does not matter now – his experiences at the Jets, Panthers, and 49ers are stories of old. Darnold will have to focus exclusively on the here and now and fully take advantage of the fact that his chance in the NFL has finally arrived.
The 27-year-old quarterback is now in an environment where everything has come together. He’s got solid blockers, talented running backs and receivers, a strong defense, and coaching that gives him the support to truly shine like never before.
Vikings look forward to stay undefeated at Lambeau Field
The Vikings staying undefeated after three games have surprised many as they lead the general consensus for favorites to contend for the NFC North title. They will look forward to making the biggest statement of the season on Sunday by winning at Green Bay Packers in a divisional showdown at Lambeau Field.
Probably no one expected the Minnesota Vikings to begin like this, but under the radar, Kevin O’Connell’s team is slowly positioning themselves as contenders for the title in the NFC North.
The Green Bay Packers have bounced back after their initial loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in a wet outfield in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They have won two games in a row despite their starting quarterback Jordan Love suffering an injury in the first week itself. The game will see one of the top-tier teams with a big highest point margin going up against the Packers who rank first in sacks this season.
