Saudi Arabian league’s viewership increases 7 times after Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr: Reports

Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Al-Nassr, the club has enjoyed and smashed many records in the country. Al- Nassr is reportedly the most talked about club in Asia. The 37-year-old megastar is a huge influence in the world, not just in football. Reports have claimed that Saudi Arabia’s viewership has spiked by more than 7 times after the club announced Ronaldo’s signing.
The Portuguese legend is one of the biggest influencers on social media as well, with an unmatched 530 million followers on Instagram. His arrival boosted the followers of Al-Nassr’s Instagram to a whopping 12 million, which was around 800,000 before Ronaldo’s signing. Spanish media outlet Marca also reported that the iconic number 7 jersey sales have increased rapidly. It was reported that around 400 Cristiano Ronaldo jerseys are being sold everyday in Saudi Arabia. The Iconic number 7 jersey is the fastest-selling shirt in Saudi Arabia’s history.

Al-Nassr is reportedly paying the former Manchester United forward an astonishing $200 million for 2.5 years.
“The agreement is not limited to football… it is commercially beneficial for us in terms of profitability,” Al-Nassr president Musalli Al-Muammar said. “Ronaldo will help achieve more success for the club, Saudi sports, and future generations”. He added. “Ronaldo will serve as an ambassador for both Saudi Arabian football and the country in general,” Simon Chadwick, Professor of Sport and Geopolitical Economy at Skema Business School stated in an interview with The New Arab.
“But his signing is also a brand positioning statement as well: that the league and the country see themselves as being amongst the best in the world – high value, lots of status, ambitious and aspirational.” Chadwick further added. Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival will undoubtedly change the history for Al- Nassr and the Saudi Arabian football’s future.
