The Seattle Seahawks’ new owner, Vinod Khosla, whose net worth is $13.7 billion, made a surprising revelation. He is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Khosla’s love for the Steelers began shortly after he moved to the United States to pursue higher studies in the 1970s.

I also happened to come to this country in 1976, when the Steelers were winning the Super Bowl. So actually, I’m originally and still am a big Steelers fan. Also a little-known fact, but I still watch all the Steelers games too.

Vinod Khosla said on Thursday in a presser

From 1970 to 1980, the Steelers were all the rage. Led by the legendary players Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, and Dwight White, the iconic “Steel Curtain,” the Pittsburgh franchise won the Super Bowl four times and earned several other accolades.

So, it makes sense that someone new to the football world would take a liking to the Steelers because of their winning streak. Then again, Khosla is now the proud owner of the Seahawks, based in Seattle. The NFL officially transferred power to Vinod and Neeru Khosla on Thursday.

Vinod Khosla shares his goal as the owner of the Seattle Seahawks

Before the Khosla family, Paul Allen, the founder of Microsoft, owned the Seahawks. After Paul Allen passed away, his sister, Jody Allen, managed the club until 2026, the year the Seahawks won their second Super Bowl.

Vinod Khosla wants to add more championships to the Seahawks’ trophy cabinet.

Get another Super Bowl. That simple. In general, our approach is going to be long-term focused. That’s our inclination always. So, keep winning, take a long-term approach, and learn a lot. We don’t know enough.

Khosla said, as quoted by ESPN‘s Brady Henderson

The Khosla family purchased the Seahawks for $9.612 billion from the Paul Allen Estate, the most expensive purchase of an NFL franchise in history.

The Seahawks don’t have the Steelers on their 2026-27 calendar. But they do have a loaded schedule, filled with teams with aspirations of playing postseason football. Besides facing NFC West teams- the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals twice- the Seahawks face the Kansas City Chiefs twice (once in preseason), Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Philadelphia Eagles. Denver, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and both LA clubs were part of the playoffs last year.

The Seahawks signed Leonard Williams to a new contract

The Seahawks finding a new owner wasn’t the only massive news for the fanbase. All-Pro defensive tackle and a key member of the 2025 Super Bowl-winning team Leonard Williams signed a 3-year, $90 million contract extension to stay in Seattle. “It feels amazing,” Williams told Brady Henderson.

Williams had 62 tackles, 7 sacks, 9 TFLs, and one pass defended en route to earning his first career Super Bowl ring.

The New York Jets drafted Williams 6th overall in 2015. He was traded to the New York Giants midway through 2019. Four years later, the Giants traded the 32-year-old defender to the Seahawks in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Since his debut, Williams has accumulated 637 tackles, 61.5 sacks, 93 TFLs, 2 interceptions, 15 passes defensed, 6 forced fumbles, and four forced returns. Williams has earned 3 Pro Bowl selections and a Second Team All-Pro selection.
