The Seattle Seahawks are one step away from ushering in a new era. The reigning Super Bowl champions have found their owners. The Estate of Paul G. Allen announced it has entered into a formal sale agreement with an ownership group led by the Khosla family, including Vinod Khosla.
After Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, passed away, his sister, Judy Allen, assumed responsibility for the club. With the Seahawks winning their second-ever world championship, Judy Allen put the club up for sale.
On Saturday, the Allen estate reached an agreement with the Khosla family for a takeover.
We are honored to be entrusted as the next stewards of the Seattle Seahawks. We look forward to building on the winning legacy Paul Allen created and to earning the trust of the Seahawks organization and fans everywhere.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Seth Wickerman of The Athletic, the Seahawks are being sold for roughly $9.6 billion. Schefter also reported that it’s the most money spent on the purchase of any NFL franchise, nearly 50% more than Josh Harris spent on the Washington Commanders.
Paul Allen purchased the Seahawks in 1997 for $194 million. This prevented the club from moving away from the Seattle area. Almost 30 years later, the Seahawks are set to have new owners.

The NFL sent a memo to all the franchise owners regarding the Khosla family’s massive Seahawks takeover
The Khosla family’s takeover of the Seahawks will take a little bit more time. Per The Athletic, at least 24 of the other 31 team owners must approve before the ownership can shift hands.

Schefter revealed that the league sent a memo to the rest of the owners right after the news was announced.
In the memo, the league provided a brief overview of the Khosla family’s business and an introduction of the prominent members who will play key roles in running the Seahawks.
The first piece of information the memo revealed is that the Khosla family partly owns the Seahawks’ divisional rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. Neeru Khosla, Vinod Khosla’s wife, is expected to serve as the controlling owner of the Seahawks.

Neal Khosla, the CEO of Curai, an AI healthcare company, is expected to have a significant leadership role in the ownership group.
Allen & Co. has kept us informed throughout the process, and the [League] Commissioner [Roger Goodell] and League staff have had discussions with the Khosla family and its representatives. We have also commenced both a review of key transaction documents and customary due diligence on the prospective ownership group. As this work progresses, we will report to the Finance Committee, which will review the transaction in advance of the membership’s consideration.
