If any basketball fan were to hear that the Golden State Warriors were contemplating trading away Draymond Green, they would likely ignore the news, labeling it as being fake.

Admittedly, many fans and analysts have asked the franchise to get rid of the 6’6″ forward, but that was when he would resort to his antics, which would become a problem for the team and impact their performances.

Had he not had that top-tier IQ, the ability to counter offensive schemes, and play with a grit that belies his size, maybe the Warriors might have already dispatched him elsewhere.

Green’s importance has been invaluable, as without his skills, Stephen Curry would not have those four championships. Moreover, the Michigan native has been reliable, at least when it came to staying healthy.

Yes, his offensive output has dropped, but even then, the rest of his abilities still make the Warriors contenders. That was until Jimmy Butler blew his knee, and Giannis Antetokounmpo suddenly became available.

I think what’s really tricky for Draymond is this is the only place he’s ever known. He’s going to have a statue outside the building someday.

Steve Kerr said as quoted by 95.7 The Game

This was the head coach speaking about the trade rumors swirling around the Golden State Warriors. It seems Steve Kerr knows that there is a chance his defensive stalwart could leave the team.

Draymond Green has been included in trade deals for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Steve Kerr talking about Draymond Green potentially having a statue built outside Chase Center is not what the forward may have thought about at this juncture of his career.

The hope was that he and his teammates would fight for titles until the wheels fall off. But with Giannis Antetokounmpo available via trade, it seems the Warriors have no choice but to package Green in a deal that the Milwaukee Bucks would like.

The Stein Line was the first to report on Jan. 23 that Jimmy Butler would not be included in Golden State’s Giannis offers and it has since been confirmed that the Warriors have indeed made Draymond Green part of their pitch to Milwaukee in presumed combination with Jonathan Kuminga, Milwaukee native Brandin Podziemski and draft capital.

Marc Stein noted in his Substack

The veteran journalist detailed how this package could interest the Bucks enough to part with their superstar forward.

If this deal goes through, there is a chance Green will buy out his contract. However, the NBA’s anti‑circumvention rule would prohibit him from signing with the Warriors at least until the original term of his contract expires, or one year passes.

Draymond Green is not losing sleep over trade rumors

This means that the game they just lost to the Philadelphia 76ers very well could be the last time Draymond Green played in a Warriors jersey.

I’ve been here for 14 years. I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business. It is what it is. I ain’t losing no sleep though. I slept great last night.

Draymond Green told reporters

This was the 35-year-old’s response when asked about the trade rumors. It seems the father of four is resigned to the fact that his time with the organization that drafted him could be coming to an end.

But he is not losing sleep over it, as he knows the NBA as a business is ruthless. He reiterated that point when Luka Doncic was traded, and again recently, when the Los Angeles Clippers released his former teammate Chris Paul at 3 AM.
