Sylvester Stallone is undoubtedly one of the biggest Hollywood action superstars of all time. He inspired various generations of boxers with his Rocky movie series. However, when he came out publicly to advise new-generation boxers about being soft, it didn’t go well with former WBC super-lightweight champion Devin Haney.
Sylvester Stallone recently went viral for claiming that fighters and people today have it easier than the ones in his era. He highlighted this by comparing the boxing gloves used in the Rocky films to the ones used today. Haney, being one of boxing’s prominent stars, took offense to Stallone’s remarks and responded with a sharp rebuttal.

Stallone, being a Hollywood legend with millions of followers, was quite apologetic about the video. His words and message were seen as genuine as a result, Haney’s response landed him on the negative side of public opinion. His tweet was immediately flooded with several trolls, who made fun of his last devastating loss.

Devin Haney will return after a year-long hiatus, following his intense clash with Ryan Garcia, to face Jose Ramirez. Garcia will also feature on the same Riyadh Season card, taking on Rolando Romero in a high-stakes matchup. A potential rematch between Haney and Garcia depends entirely on the outcomes of their respective fights in May.

Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia fought each other last year in April, where ‘KingRy’ won via majority decision. However, after the fight, Garcia was found positive for PEDs, which overturned the result and he was banned for a year. However, Haney’s camp wasn’t satisfied and took legal action for all the loss that they received due to Garcia’s PED usage.
While many experts and old boxers advised against the lawsuit, Haney and his Father were serious. But things have calmed down since they dropped the lawsuit. Turki Alalshikh is already doing his best to make the rematch happen. In a recent interview, Haney talked about the fight.
That’s the priority for me. We have got some unfinished business. That’s a fight that has to happen. I’m happy that he (Turki Alalshikh) wants to make that fight happen.

Irrespective of the PED usage, Haney is still on the receiving end of the majority of trolling and hate comments. Recently, the fighter’s wife, Leena Sayed, also found herself in hot waters for her past relationship. Going into the upcoming fight, Haney has a big responsibility to revive his reputation in the fight community.
