A long-awaited rematch between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is almost a done deal. This comes after Haney reportedly dropped his lawsuit against Garcia from their first meeting. “KingRy” met him at the Barclays Center, last April and won a majority decision (115-109, 114-110, and 112-112) win initially. However, the bout had much controversy.

Ryan Garcia put the former WBC super lightweight champion to the canvas three times. Unfortunately, Garcia would later fail pre and post-fight test pools, testing in the green for Ostarine. The NYSAC backtracked a previous false positive for 19-Norandrosterone, and benched him for a year. But Devin Haney, who was undefeated before said bout (now a no-contest) took things a step further.

“Dream” and Bill Haney even sued the rival for physical harm and fraud, for hydrating over at 3.2 lbs over limit. Previously, the boxer said “KingRy” hurt his marketability in the 12-round decision loss after doping. Fortunately for boxing fans, a report on Monday revealed that Haney has dropped his case against Garcia. In return, Garcia has agreed to VADA drug testing for a potential rematch.

Devin Haney recently met Saudi GEA boxing chief Turki Alalshikh during his London ringwork to push for a fight, or make a Riyadh Season card fight happen. With rematch rumors driving up, Garcia had snubbed down a test pool for Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) again.

The Victorville, CA native linked Bill Haney to VADA’s Victor Conte, alleging his test pool results were tampered with. However – now the writing’s on the wall as Garcia agreed to the terms. Haney also took to socials after it.

Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia amps up rematch talks on social media

Ryan Garcia posted his reaction on X to the ambush by Bill and Devin Haney at the Ring Awards in London last Saturday night. The duo met Alalshikh yet again. Bill barked “You’re ducking” as the Haneys confronted Garcia as he was leaving. This does not drive up the bargain anyhow.

Before their matchup Garcia and his antics drove the bargain. It seemed he was short a few marbles and was taken away to Bellvue Mental Hospital. But he fooled everyone; as soon as the boxer entered the ring, “KingRy” was a nightmare for then-WBC champ “Dream” Haney.

Even with his mental ruse, Ryan Garcia was highly-touted as ESPN‘s sixth-best active junior welterweight, and also a top #3 welterweight. Devin Haney needed this prized rematch more than he did. After the ambush, Garcia had some sage words for the father-son duo.

You can smell the desperate 😭😭 yall wonder why im quiet bc im being sued
They are the real pu**ys, trying to act like I ducked any smoke after I’ve already whooped him.
And I am being drug tested just not by Vada so everything they said is lies lies and more lies

The alternatives for Haney do not look so good if he does not get his rematch. His marketability is actually in shambles. He might actually crumble against someone strong that Turki Alalshikh provides for a fight. But Team Haney did not respond to the claims of being desperate. They are just waiting on this matchup in their own beat.

I guess he’s not a duck.. he’s a goose. See u soon bucko!

So, the second fight between the two is now on. However, the rematch is not official yet. There’s no word on whether it will be at a catchweight, when it will take place, or where. Haney said his next fight would be at 143 or 144 in an interview last Saturday.
