Are Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka dating? The question is finally answered

Are Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka dating? The question is finally answered

Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka

Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka are often seen hanging out together, leading to people constantly speculating about whether the American duo are dating or not.

While the speculations continued throughout 2021, they were ended this week by Venus as she clarified the situation on an Instagram story. The 7 time Grand Slam winner had put up a “Questions” sticker on her story, where she answered questions from her fans.

The fans of course didn’t hesitate to ask her questions about her relationship status. One follower asked if she and Reilly are dating, to which she very wittily clarified that they are not dating. “No @ReillyOpelka shot me down” was her answer to the question.

The hilarious answer clears the long drawn-up speculation about Venus and Reilly. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the duo love spending time with each other. Just last week, they attended the Art Basel in Miami. Opelka had posted a photo of the two alongside Musical artist Kygo on social media. The two also walked the red carpet together recently at the King Richard movie premiere in Los Angeles. Though the pair are not dating as clarified by Williams today, they clearly are very good friends and share a close bond together, with their friendship continuing to blossom.

Williams and Opelka had contrasting seasons on the court in 2021. While Opelka enjoyed a strong campaign and reached new heights, veteran Williams struggled with injuries and form.

Opelka reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final, where he lost to world number 2 Daniil Medvedev in the title clash at the Canada Masters. He also won his first doubles title at the Atlanta Open partnering with Jannik Sinner.  The American also reached the fourth round of the US Open for the first time, eventually breaking into the top 20 in the rankings. He ended the year in a career-high ranking of 19th.

Venus Williams meanwhile had a very poor season, dropping out of the top 100 rankings this year after a 5 match losing streak. This continues her struggles with form over the past two years, in a period where she is in a prolonged downward trajectory. However, there was something positive among her struggles as she made a record-breaking 90th Grand Slam appearance this year.
