ATP Halle 2021: Men’s Singles Draw Preview, Analysis and Prediction for Noventi Open

The first mega event of the Grass season, the coveted Noventi Open at Halle will commence from June 14 and will serve as the tune up event for Wimbledon. Players will hit the Grass court for the first time after missing out last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Swiss maestro, Roger Federer will be the star attraction at the event alongwith Australian Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is playing the French Open final.

Men’s Draw Prediction and Analysis

The top half, as expected is action packed and is headlined by top seed and World No.2 Daniil Medvedev. He gets a tough first round match against Jan-Lennard Struff who reached the Fourth Round of the French Open. He will then face Vasek Pospisil or a qualifier in the Round of 16.

Medvedev is drawn alongside Roger Federer, who will open against a qualifier and will have a tricky second round against either Hubert Hurkacz or Felix Auger-Aliassime, the Stuttgart finalist. A Medvedev-Federer quarter-final is on the cards.

The bottom quarter of the top half will see French Open semifinalist Alexander Zverev who will face Dominik Koepfer in the opening round. He will either face Sam Querrey or Ugo Humbert in the Round of 16. He is drawn alongside sixth seed Roberto Bautista Agut who faces Sebastian Korda in the opening round. Zverev will face either Korda, Agut or Nishikori in the quarter-final.

Bottom Half

The bottom half of the draw is a bit relaxed and is headlined by World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, who will play the final of French Open on Sunday. Tsitsipas will a qualifier in the first round and could face Frenchman Gilles Simon in the Round of 16. The Greek is drawn alongside another Frenchman Gael Monfils who opens against South African Lloyd Harris.

The other quarter of the bottom half is spearheaded by 4th seed Andrey Rublev who gets an easy draw till the Last 8. He faces countryman Karen Khachanov in the first round and will lock horns with either Jordan Thompson or Daniel Althmaier in the Round of 16. He could very well face David Goffin in the quarterfinal who opens against Corentin Moutet.

The first semifinal between Roger Federer and Sascha Zverev could very well be the match of the tournament. Both the players have formidable game on Grass and will give each other a hard time. The result could be the same as the previous time they met at Halle- Federer winning.

The second semifinal between Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas promises to deliver a defensive masterclass. The fun could be spoilt as Tsitsipas will be tired after his French Open outing. Rublev could make it to yet another ATP 500 event final.

20-time grand slam Champion Roger Federer will lock horns against Andrey Rublev in a mouth watering clash. Federer will look to win his first title since Basel 2019. Meanwhile Rublev has an excellent record in ATP 500 events and will not make life easy for Federer. Expect a tight final with Federer winning in three sets.
