Emma Raducanu is currently the centre of attraction in not only the tennis, but sporting world in general. She shocked the world by becoming the first player in tennis history to win a grand slam as a qualifier. She beat Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the US Open final in straight sets to win her maiden slam.

Apart from tennis, Raducanu is a huge motorsport fan, especially Formula 1. After Wimbledon, she was even invited to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone where she met some drivers. But after the US Open win, she met 7-time world champion and fellow Brit, Lewis Hamilton at the Met Gala.

Talking to BBC, Raducanu said that being a huge motorsport fan, meeting Lewis Hamilton was a ‘really really cool’ experience.

“I managed to go to some really cool events and places,” she said. “I mean at the Met Gala I spoke to Lewis Hamilton which is really really cool being such a fan of motorsports and formula one. So it was really nice to to see him and speak to him there and also everyone else the met was such a an artistic event with some great performances and I was very very honoured and grateful to have been able to go.”

Emma is now back home at Kent and said that she will take some time off to rest and recover. Her massive jump in the WTA Rankings to No.23 has messed up her schedule and she hasn’t thought of where she’ll be playing next.

“I haven’t thought of anything going forward,” she said. “I’m just enjoying it and relaxing and recovering. We will make some plans. I have a few days’ rest and recovery, I think needed after the last seven weeks, but then I am straight back to training and hungry to get better and come back out and play some more tournaments,”

However, Raducanu is expected to get a wild card at Indian Wells which could be her first tournament post her US Open triumph.
