Marton Fucsovics vs Jannik Sinner: Preview
Coming into the tournament, Fucsovics is probably low on confidence. The 32-year old Hungarian after managing only a second round finish at the French Open 2021, participated in two other events, but did not impress much. While Fucsovics made a first round exit from the Stuttgart Open, he lost to Kwon Soon-woo 6-7, 7-6, 3-6 in the Round of 16 of Eastbourne International.
On the other hand, after making the tennis world frenzy with fourth round finish at Roland Garros, in the process even making Rafael Nadal sweat before eventually losing out, Sinner looked out of touch at the Queen’s Club Championships. The 19-year old Italian fought valiantly against British teenager Jack Draper before Draper handed a shock defeat to Sinner in straight sets 7-6, 7-6 in the first round itself.
Marton Fucsovics vs Jannik Sinner: Head to Head
Prior to their meeting at Wimbledon, both players have faced each other twice, with the head-to-head record currently levelled at 1-1. They last met in a Round of 32 contest in 2020 in Sofia, Bulgaria, where Sinner breezed past Fucsovics in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
Marton Fucsovics vs Jannik Sinner: Prediction
Both players have looked uncomfortable in whatever matches they have played on grass court so far this season, which makes this encounter even more intriguing. Sinner is a fast learner and his loss at Queen’s Club Championships can just be one off. Having said that, Fucsovics has been on the Tour since long and he has vast experience to tackle such tricly situations. Nevertheless Sinner should make it to the Round of 64, but not before Fucsovics gives a good account of himself.
Match Prediction: Jannik Sinner defeats Marton Fucsovics in a hard-fought, four-set encounter.
