Novak Djokovic is back in the news after being deported from Australia following the discrepancies in his VISA application. Djokovic wasn’t allowed to participate in the Australian Open, a tournament that he has won 9 times in his career.
The world No.1 was shuffling between a tennis court and the federal court during his stay down under. In the end, the Immigration Minister decided to deport Djokovic and he returned back to Serbia.
During the major, Djokovic was keeping a low profile and not engaging in talks with the media. Finally, he attended an event with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. At the event, the president said, “He doesn’t want to tell you, but he will beat them all at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and US Open. I predict that.”
Novak Djokovic to win the remaining majors in 2022
Novak Djokovic after not being allowed to play the Australian Open will be looking forward to competing in the remaining events this year. The world No.1 played some dominating tennis last year and won 3 out of 4 grand slams.
He was inches away from making history by winning US Open but lost in the finals to Daniil Medvedev. He was going for a 21st grand slam and the Golden Slam but was stopped by the Russian.
Djokovic’s absence at the Australian Open also led to him falling behind in the race of most grand slam victories in a career. Before the Australian Open Djokovic was tied with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer at 20 titles each. However, Nadal’s stunning Australian Open victory led to him inching ahead of the other two.
Djokovic will be looking to participate in the remaining three grand slams this year. But he needs to be careful about the stringent covid-19 rules being implemented all over the world.
The Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in a recent interview with Djokovic predicted that the world No.1 will go on to win the remaining three grand slam titles this year.
