World No.1 Novak Djokovic had captured the headlines for a long time because of his prolonged visa saga. The player was eventually deported to his nation after many days of investigation and court appeals.

Alongside his visa and stand against vaccination rows, the World No.1 was also blighted by another controversy after it came to be known that he had attended public events despite testing positive for the virus. Some people had even questioned the legitimacy of his Covid positive report, accusing him of providing false information to find loopholes to enter the Australian Open 2022.

Former British No.1 and current television presenter Andrew Castle recently spoke on the issue of the controversies surrounding Novak Djokovic. In a recent interview with Tennis365 in association with Game4Padel, Castle said that the World No.1 would be very motivated after not only missing the Australian Open but seeing his sworn rival Rafael Nadal win the tournament.

“The only camera we were missing down in Australia was one on Novak’s face on match point when Nadal made it to No.21. After seeing that, I can imagine Novak’s motivation will be 100 percent moving forward,” he said.

Castle also expressed his desire to watch the world’s best in action in the last slog in their final 2-to 3 years in action, and thus expressed his disappointment on seeing Novak Djokovic miss the Australian Open irrespective of his conduct.

“I want to see the very best giving it one last slog over the next year, two years or three years, so I missed Novak down there, regardless of my personal opinion of the way he conducted himself,” he said.

Castle further went on to comment on Djokovic’s subsequent controversial deportation and expressed his fascination on the whole situation as a journalist. According to the 58-year-old, Djokovic’s deportation was not entirely fair and his treatment wasn’t correct and added that the Serb was unlucky to get himself tangled up in such deep politics.

He added: “My own personal view is he wasn’t treated entirely correctly at all times in that one. There was a vast amount of politics in it, with the elections in Australia and the restrictions they had to endure were so difficult. With a bit of luck it fizzles out and he can get back to doing what he does best.”
