It will be a battle of two of the best clay court players on tour currently. Karolina Pliskova seems to have a love affair with this tournament. She has made it to the final at Rome for the third consecutive time, having won in 2019 and finishing runner-up in 2020.
This week too, she has defeated some in form players. After getting past Sevastova and Zvonareva in the initial two rounds, she got the better of Jeļena Ostapenko in the quarter-final. On Saturday, Pliskova defeated in form Petra Martic in three sets 6-1,3-6,6-2 to make it to the final.
As for her opponent, Iga Swiatek, her purple patch on Clay seems never ending. Since winning the French Open last year, she has won just one match; to Ash Barty last week.
The 19-year old has shown every signs of a future champion this week. She has been tested by the best players on tour and has passes each one with flying colors. Swiatek defeated 5th seed Elina Svitolina in the quarter-final and got the better of Coco Gauff in straight sets 7-6(3),6-3 to reach her maiden final in Rome.

Both the players are coming off some great results and have the best suited game for Clay. Former World No.1, Karolina Pliskova is known for her temperament on court. She has been hitting very well from the baseline all week and would back her serve in the final.
As for Swiatek, she is proving time and again her worth on Clay. The teenager from Poland has a solid topspin from the forehand side and would once again rely on it. The match should go down the distance with Swiatek claiming the title.
