Sofia Kenin vs Wang Xinyu Preview
World No. 6 Sofia Lenin hasn’t had a very fruitful season. In the Italian as well as Stuttgart Open, Sofia was knocked out in the very first round. Although she did get a good start in the French Open 2021, her progress was halted by Maria Sakkari in the fourth round.
It was a moral shattering loss for Sofia as seventeenth-seeded Sakkari thrashed her in straight sets by 6-1, 6-3. The American looked helpless against Sakkari and never seemed like making comeback. In Wimbledon Championships 2020, Sofia was defeated in the second round by Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska in three hard-fought sets.
Sofia would be desperate to make a grand comeback at Wimbledon. On the other hand, Wang Xinyu has delivered back-to-back impressive performances in the qualifiers to make her way up to the main draw. She defeated Tereza Smitková in her previous encounter in straight sets.
In fact, the Chinese tennis star didn’t drop a single set in the qualifiers. She was stretched a bit by Robin Anderson in the first qualifier, however, Xinyu held her nerve under pressure and eventually ended up winning the contest by 7-5, 7-6.
Sofia Kenin vs Wang Xinyu: Head-to-head

Sofia Kenin vs Wang Xinyu: Prediction
Wang Xinyu has been incredible in the qualifiers. She has dominated her opponents and has showcased great agility on the grass court. However, she would have to be at her absolute best in order to emerge victoriously in the first round.
Sofia Kenin hasn’t been in the best of forms off late. However, she is expected to make her way into the second round by going past Wang Xinyu without much hassle.
Prediction: Sofia Kenin to win in straight-sets.
