Latest ATP rankings post US Open 2021
Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic
The US Open 2021 brings an end to the Grand Slam action for the season which will be remembered for Novak Djokovic‘s brilliant run that ended on a disappointing note after his loss in the finals in New York against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.
Djokovic won all 3 of the Slams before the US Open and all his victories were record-breaking. His 2021 Australian Open victory was his 9th title in Melbourne, the 2021 French Open saw him complete a Career Slam for the 2nd time while his 2021 Wimbledon title got him to 20 Grand Slams. The US Open loss was his 6th loss in 9 finals he has played in New York.
Daniil Medvedev finally got his hands on a well deserved Grand Slam trophy after facing defeats in his first two finals. He went on to defeat Novak 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in his 2nd finals at the US Open and now has a complete haul of ATP Trophies, right from the ATP-250 to Grand Slams and Year-end Championships.
New ATP Rankings
The result of the US Open does not change the rankings at the top spots as Novak continues to reign as the World No. 1 while Medvedev takes a good lead to solidify his position as the World No. 2. Roger Federer manages to stay in the Top-10 but with Top-10 debutant Casper Ruud not much behind, Federer might slip out of Top-10 by the end of the season as his season has ended already.
