Daniil Medvedev has been one of the best player this season. He is the only men’s player except Novak Djokovic to win a major this year. He made it to the final of the Australian Open earlier this year and followed it up with a title victory at Marseille. He then had a decent clay court season and won the Mallorca Open on grass. He then won the Toronto Masters and went on to win the US Open- his maiden grand slam title.

A couple of weeks ago, he made it to the final of the Paris Masters. This week in Turin, he defeated Hubert Hurkacz in the opener and beat Alexander Zverev in a three set thriller to book a semifinal spot.

Italian Jannik Sinner was the alternate for Turin and entered the competition after Matteo Berrettini pulled out. After a Round of 16 outing at Flushing Meadows, Sinner dominated the indoor courts for the next three weeks. He defended his Sofia Open crown and won the European Open at Antwerp after that. He then made it to the semifinal at Vienna before two disappointing outings at Bercy and Stockholm. In his first match at Turin, he blasted past 7th seed Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets 6-2,6-2.

This will be the third meeting between the duo. Medvedev leads the H2H 2-0. They last met at Marseille earlier this year where Medvedev won in straight sets.

Based on recent form, Medvedev will start as the favorite. He has already qualified for the semifinals but will want to continue the momentum. But it’s a must win game for Sinner if he wants to move ahead. He has been phenomenal of indoor hardcourts and the extremely fast courts of Turin will suit him. Having said that, expect Sinner to give a tough fight, but Medvedev should move into the semifinals with a win.
